Capsule endoscopy is a simple test where the patient does not need to be anesthetized.
Technique
In capsule endoscopy, the patient swallows a small capsule that has an inbuilt camera.
The camera capture images of the small intestine which are sent to an external data recorder.
The images are later studied for examining the small intestine.
The capsule should not be used if there is any suspicion of stricture in the small intestine.
The capsule is passed out later in the stool. Thus, retrieval of the capsule is not required
